Carla’s raw macaroons
3 cups dried, unsweetened coconut flakes and shredded…I do half and half equal parts
1 1/2 cups cocoa powder/ carob powder (half and half also!)
1 cup maple syrup or agave
1/3 cup coconut oil
1 T vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
For blonde macaroons, just sub the cocoa powder for almond meal/flour
Carla says: set dehydrator at 105 and put them in there for anywhere between 24-48 hours. I usually pull mine out at 30 hours.
For my dehydrator (one temp, 160F) – 6 hours does the job well.
If you don’t have a dehydrator:
Put in the oven and turn it on to 200 for about 5 mins every hour to keep it warm. I let them sit for 8 hours in the warm oven.
