Lebanese green beans and meat

Lebanese green beans and meat

1 lb frozen green beans, chopped
1 lb beef or lamb (I used stir fry beef that I cut into small pieces)
1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp garlic powder
salt and pepper

Cut meat into very small chunks. Saute over medium heat with butter and olive oil. Brown meat until rich brown color and liquids from meat have reduced. Add onion and saute until onions are translucent. Add in tomato paste and diced onions, plus 1 can of water. Mix well and turn heat down to low. Let mixture bubble away, covered, for 30 minutes. Then add in spices and green beans. Let mixture cook for 30 more mins on low heat. Then it is ready to serve! Traditionally, it is served with rice, but bread works too.
